Email
Most people connected to the internet will
spend a lot of time using their chosen email client. Many
will stick with Outlook Express simply because it comes with
Windows and they don't know any better. Don't you make
that mistake. Here are two better alternatives.

Pegasus
Mail is my favourite free email client - right from the
image of the Pegasus on the start up splash screen .
First
released in 1990, Pegasus has many, many features (only some of
which I will detail below) including bayesian spam filtering
in the latest version.
In spite of being so
feature rich it is still surprisingly small and
fast.
|
Key
features include:
- Very
secure - Pegasus Mail protects you from even the worst
HTML-borne virus and trojans, and protects your privacy by
intercepting web bugs
- Supports
multiple accounts and users
- Mail
filtering (pioneered by Pegasus Mail pioneered in 1991)
- MailMerge
allows you to create customized form letters to multiple
recipients
- Comprehensive
HTML mail generation
- Selective
download function allows you to preview a POP3 mailbox
before downloading it.
- You
can colour code significant messages using your own colour
schemes
- Sort
your mail by date, size, sender, subject, colour or thread,
in ascending or descending order
- View
attachments directly from within the program
- Supports
confirmation of reading and confirmation of delivery
requests

Thunderbird
from Mozilla is another excellent free email client.
This is the email counterpart to Firefox. It makes
emailing safe, fast and easy with built in features such as
intelligent spam filters, RSS reader, quick search, and much
more. You can add
even more features just as you can in firefox through the use of
extensions.
